Raquel Tavares (born January 11, 1985 in Lisbon ) is a fado singer.

Career

At the age of 12 she won the Grande Noite do Fado . Her guest appearances in the following years also took her to France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Holland, Argentina, Uruguay and Chile. Her debut album was awarded the 2006 Amália Rodrigues Foundation Prize for Best New Discovery .

In 2004 she played a supporting role as a fado singer in the film “O Milagre segundo Salomé” by Mário Barroso , and in 2007 she took part in the CD & DVD tribute project for the protest song and Fado de Coimbra singer Adriano with a song Correia de Oliveira .

She lives in the traditional Lisbon district of Alfama , which is also home to the Fado Museum and fado bars such as the Clube de Fado . She dedicated her second album to this quarter.
