Clube de Fado
The Clube de Fado is a fado club in Lisbon .
It was opened in 1995 by the guitarist Mário Pacheco in an old building below the Sé in Lisbon's Alfama . In the tradition of classic fado bars, it is a restaurant where fado is sung after eating. It is now counted among the best bars for Lisbon fado, but it is also advertised in tourist contexts.
The restaurant has so far been distinguished on the one hand by top-class artists (e.g. Camané , Mariza , Dulce Pontes , Carlos do Carmo , António Chainho ) and on the other hand by a number of prominent guests (e.g. Neil Armstrong , Woody Allen , Eusébio , Isabel Allende , Isabelle Huppert ).
The bar is particularly popular with musicians (e.g. Ryūichi Sakamoto , Maria Bethânia and her brother Caetano Veloso , Marisa Monte , Adriana Calcanhotto , the Scorpions , Mick Jagger , Tereza Salgueiro , Cliff Richard , Mísia , Zucchero , Chris de Burgh ).
