The Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone (RAK FTZ) is a free trade zone in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is located in the Emirate of Ra's al-Khaimah in the northernmost part of the UAE, 45 minutes by car from Dubai . It was founded by an emir decree of the ruler of Ra's al-Khaimah in May 2000. His son Sheikh Faisal bin Saqr al-Qasimi is the chairman of the RAK FTZ.
The RAK FTZ has five locations in Ra's al-Khaimah - Business Park, Technology Park, Aviation Park and the Academy Zone. It also has offices in Turkey, India, Europe and the USA and is the first free trade zone to offer business center services in four locations in the UAE.
RAK FTZ locations
The business park
The RAK FTZ business park consists of five buildings - BC 1 to 4 and the administration building. The business park is located in the center of Ra's al-Khaimas business district.
The industrial park
The Industrial Park is located about 18 km north of Ra's al-Khaimah on the coastal road right next to the island of Hulaylah. The park is about 6 km from Sar Port and has an area of 128 hectares. It was developed for heavy industry, warehouses and companies with high energy consumption. The park houses workers' accommodation, a customs office and a contact point for technical and administrative support.
The Technology Park
Located south of Ras al-Khaimah, the Technology Park is located in the immediate vicinity of Emirates Road to Dubai and the airport of Ras al-Khaimah. It is located opposite the Al Hamra Village and Hotel complex and is 100 hectares in size. It is in a rapidly developing area dedicated to light industry, automated manufacturing, and capital-intensive lifestyle projects.
The Academy Zone (Education Park)
The Academy Zone is home to educational providers offering academic programs and training in RAK and the UAE. The main buildings (Academy Zone 1 & 2) are located in the immediate vicinity of the Business Park. Some education providers that are located in the free trade zone work from other locations in Ras al-Khaimah.
RAK FTZ International Offices
India
The RAK FTZ office in Mumbai started its work in August 2005. It is the first office of a UAE free trade area in India. The majority of RAK FTZ customers come from India.
Iran
THE RAK FTZ office in Tehran started its work on October 7, 2005.
Turkey
The RAK FTZ Liaison Office in Turkey was opened in December 2007. It is located in the popular Levent district in Istanbul. The RAK FTZ is the only UAE free trade zone with an office in Turkey.
Europe
In Europe, the RAK FTZ opened an office in Germany in April 2008. The office is located in the Media Park in Cologne. RAK FTZ customers throughout Europe are looked after from here.
United States
The RAK FTZ opened an office in Miami in 2009, which was relocated to Washington DC in 2011.
RAK FTZ UAE Business and Promotion Centers
The RAK Free Trade Zone operates business and promotion centers in RAK, Dubai and Abu Dhabi DUBAI RAK FTZ currently operates two business / promotion & innovation centers in Dubai: RAK Business Center Fairmont, a business center and RAK FTZ marketing office on the seventh floor of the hotel The Fairmont Dubai, in Dubai's financial district on Sheikh Zayed Road, near the World Trade Center Dubai, Dubai International Convention Center, the Emirates Towers, Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC), and Burj Khalifa.
Festival City RAK FTZ Promotion & Innovation Center is located in the Dubai Festival City in Dubai.
ABU DHABI
RAK FTZ operates in Abu Dhabi a Promotion & Innovation Center in Abu Dhabi Mall .
RAK FTZ UAE International Company
The so-called International Company can also be registered in the RAK Free Trade Zone via approved agents.
