The company Raschig GmbH operates a chemical factory in Ludwigshafen am Rhein . The company is divided into the areas of chemistry, plastics and Raschig rings as well as the road construction products covering (black) and marking (white).
history
The company was founded in 1891 by the chemist Friedrich Raschig . Today it employs around 340 people (as of 2016) at three locations in Germany and one in the Netherlands . There used to be a branch in Bochum-Langendreer as another German location . The so-called “Raschig rings” used as packing in distillation columns also go back to the company.
Raschig GmbH has been a subsidiary of PMC Europe since 1996 and belongs to the PMC group of the US entrepreneur Philip E. Kamins .
Products
The main focus of production is the manufacture of fine and specialty chemicals , mainly nitrogen heterocycles, sulfopropylated products, epichlorohydrin derivatives , carbodiimide compounds as well as amine and phenolic anti-aging agents for a wide variety of industries. In addition, thermoset molding compounds for the electrical and automotive industries and bitumen emulsions for road renovation are also produced.
The chemical conversions in the production plants essentially take place in a discontinuous manner, sometimes at elevated temperatures and pressures and with the use of catalysts .
The fine chemicals are raw materials and intermediates for the chemical, pharmaceutical and dye industry for use as circulation conveyor and food dyes. Raschig GmbH also produces epichlorohydrin derivatives, which are mainly used in the paint and tire industry as well as the pharmaceutical industry. The carbodiimide compounds produced are used in the plastics industry as hydrolysis protective agents.
