Raschkonitza mill

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Raschkonitza mill (often incorrectly called the Raschkonitz mill ) was a water mill in the Spreewald , about two kilometers northeast of the village of Boblitz in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district .

history

The Raschkonitza mill was built in 1770. It was located about two kilometers northeast of Boblitz at the mouth of the Jeschoa , today's Upper Boblitzer Kahnfahrt , in the Raschkonitza , today's Südumfluter . The mill is named after the latter river . However, the mill had to struggle with poor water conditions after its construction, with a weir width of about five meters, the water level was only 30 centimeters. In addition, the Raschkonitza was only a very narrow river at that time and therefore did not provide enough water to guarantee the profitability of the mill.

In 1845 the Raschkonitza mill burned down and was not rebuilt. The mill was mentioned in 1856, the remains of the mill have disappeared without a trace today.
