Rassemblement Démocratique du Peuple Camerounais

Rassemblement démocratique du Peuple Camerounais (abbreviation RDPC or CPDM ; English Cameroon Peoples' Democratic Movement , German  about "Democratic Assembly of the Cameroonian People" ) is a party founded in 1985 in the Republic of Cameroon . It has been the ruling political party in Cameroon since it was founded.

It was founded on March 24, 1985 in Bamenda and emerged from the Union Nationale Camerounaise ( English Cameroon National Union , German  National Union of Cameroon ). This party had dominated politics in Cameroon since independence from France and Great Britain and Northern Ireland in 1960. In the 2020 parliamentary election , the RDPC won 152 of the 180 seats.

The motto of the RDPC is Unité - Progrès - Démocratie ("Unity - Progress - Democracy").

The party's president is the current president of Cameroon, Paul Biya . The highest body of the party is the Congrès (Congress). The Bureau Politique (Politburo) has 22 members, 15 of whom are elected and seven are appointed by the President; the Comité Central (Central Committee) has 250 members, 150 of whom are elected.
