Laodike (mother of Seleucus I)
Laodike was the wife of Antiochus , a general of King Philip II of Macedon , and gave birth to him around 358 BC. The Seleukos I , who should found the dynasty of the Seleucids in Syria . In order to legitimize their claim to government, the legend of the divine descent of Seleucus I was spread: Apollo had him in a dream with Laodike. Her son named some of the newly built cities in different parts of his empire Laodikeia after this .
