The town hall of Kaiserslautern was inaugurated in 1968.

The design by architect Roland Ostertag from Leonberg emerged as the winner in an architectural competition for the town hall on Paradeplatz in Mannheim in 1960 , but only the foundations were completed due to financial difficulties (see Mannheim town house ). This design was then implemented in Kaiserslautern with small changes.

It has 25 floors above ground, distributed over a height of 84 meters, and 3241 steps. The roof terrace is on the 22nd floor. On the 21st floor there is a lounge or bar with a view of the entire city. The top three floors are only used for storage purposes and operating technology. Four elevators in the building core access all floors.

A large part of the Kaiserslautern city administration is housed in this building. In addition, this building houses the emergency management of the disaster control , which is otherwise with the fire brigade Kaiserslautern .
