Bregenz town hall

The Bregenz Town Hall is the town hall of the state capital Bregenz in the Bregenz district in Vorarlberg . It is located at Rathausstrasse 6 and is a listed building .

history

The building was originally built in 1686 by Johann Georg Kuen as a warehouse and converted into the city chancellery in 1720. It has been used as the town hall since 1810/1811. The current facade design dates from 1898. In 1955/1956 a renovation took place.

architecture

Exterior

The town hall is an elongated building that is directly connected to the lake chapel on the right . The building is three-story and has eleven window axes on the street side. The central projection is gently gabled and is emphasized on the first floor by a stone balcony. The facade is structured by plaster frame fields. It also has arched roofs. These contain mosaic medallions by Josef Boss from 1898. The two entrance portals are emphasized even more by Tuscan half-columns.

Interior

The city council hall was designed by Otto Mallaun and executed in 1908/1909 by Josef Gaudl . The glass windows in the staircase were made by Hubert Berchtold in 1959.
