Smoke switch

optical smoke switch

A smoke switch is used in preventive system fire protection and detects both smoldering fires and open fires with smoke development at an early stage . An additional temperature sensor responds at an ambient temperature of 70 ° C. Smoke switches are primarily in arrester to hold open fire doors between fire sections used.

Smoke switches are special fire detectors that meet the requirements of EN 54-7. However, they are functionally redesigned so that they can perform important switching and control functions - independently of a fire alarm system . A relay contact opens in the event of an alarm or a power failure and thus closes a fire door , for example , without this necessarily leading to an alert to the fire brigade .

The optical smoke switch works like the optical smoke detector according to the scattered light principle ( Tyndall effect ). The light transmitter and receiver are arranged in the measuring chamber so that the light from the transmitter does not hit the receiver directly. Only the light that is scattered on the smoke reaches the receiver. The evaluation electronics of the smoke switch also monitor the smoke measuring section of the detector for contamination and malfunctions. The smoke switch shows the respective operating status optically.
