The Raukumara Range is a mountain range north of Gisborne on New Zealand's North Island .
It forms part of the main mountain range of the island, which runs from Wellington in a north-northeast direction to the East Cape .
The mountains consist mainly of greywacke , argillites , siltstone and sandstone . The highest non-volcanic peak on the North Island, Mount Hikurangi , is part of the mountain range.
