Room and object designer is the job title for a state-certified designer .
The profession is rooted in the handicraft , because the training to become a master craftsman forms the basis of this profession. His special prerequisite is an understanding of space, form and material, which is expanded and refined from a different, new point of view and with regard to new points of view through postgraduate studies at the specialist academy for room and object design . The two-year, action-oriented training for qualified managers in furniture and interior design offers the opportunity to deepen this knowledge and skills in the design and organizational area.
The room and object designer sees his work as an interface between design and practical implementation and sees himself as a partner for design and high-quality execution.

Architecture, interior design , product and furniture design as well as the graphic area represent the specific focal points in the knowledge and skills of the room and object designer . The additional competence to combine design theory with practical specialist knowledge guarantees well-engineered work and ideas. The result is products and solutions that are characterized by their independent, creative and functional design and can be implemented professionally.
The training is intended to impart the ability to independently design rooms, design products and work through and implement ideas. Free design, free hand drawing and CAD are further subjects in the curriculum of the specialist academy. Presentation posters, handouts, booklets and renderings are used to present ideas and products in presentations and customer meetings.
The training part project- related work in a team offers real training conditions in cooperation with architects and craftsmen and imparts well-founded specialist knowledge in business organization, business administration and marketing . In addition, CAD , CNC , AVA, DTP for print and web as well as office and industry software are an integral part of the lesson.
Thesis
The advanced training is concluded with a state examination and project work. Such a project can be the development of a piece of furniture or a product series, a building plan or a room concept, whereby each project must actually have been commissioned by a company or a customer. The project work includes market research, an analysis of the fundamentals, the elaboration and presentation of the design ideas and the customer presentation of the projects.
Up until the end of the 2007/2008 semester, the degree was called form and space designer .
