Raw Silk was an American R&B and dance band put together by producers Ron Dean Miller and Bert Reid ( Crown Heights Affair ) in New York and which existed from 1979 to 1983. Members were the singers Jessica Cleaves (born December 10, 1948 in Los Angeles , † May 2, 2014 ibid), Sybil Thomas (resident in Hong Kong ) and Tenita Jordan.
In 1982 the trio had the biggest hit with the title Do It to the Music . The song reached number 18 on the UK charts and number 5 on the Billboard Dance Music / Club Play Singles . A year later, in the fall of 1983, a second, albeit small, success followed with Just in Time at No. 49 in the UK and No. 40 in Dance Music / Club Play Singles. There were no other publications.
