Ray Ostwald

Ray Ostwald (* 1971 in Appleton , Wisconsin ) is an American conductor, composer and violinist.

Ostwald studied mathematics, music education and violin at Lawrence University in Appleton. He obtained his master's degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison , where he also taught and was guest conductor of the chamber orchestra, symphony orchestra, string orchestra and the university band. He then performed as a conductor in the American Midwest, Germany, Austria, France, Italy and Jamaica. In 1996 he conducted the National Orchestra of Ecuador and played three world premieres of works by American composers with the Belgian clarinetist Johann Verhelst . As a violinist, Ostwald was a member of the Heidenheim Quartet for nine years . He composed and arranged works a. a. for string and wind ensembles.
