Raymond Rosenthal
Raymond B. Rosenthal (born December 19, 1914 , † July 24, 1995 ) was an American translator who translated Italian literature into English .
He has translated works by Gabriele D'Annunzio , Pietro Aretino , Aldo Busi , Carlo Ginzburg , Tommaso Landolfi , Primo Levi , Pietro Redondi , Piero Sanavio (1930–2019) and letters from Antonio Gramsci , among others . He also translated Simone Pétrements (1907-1992) book about Simone Weill from French into English.
Rosenthal was a finalist in the National Book Awards in 1972 and 1975 .
