Raymond Thompson

Raymond Thompson (* 1961 in New Zealand ) is a New Zealand producer, screenwriter and director. He lives in Brisbane , Australia .

Life

Raymond Thompson was born in a village in New Zealand. He has a younger brother named Vince Conen Thompson. Thompson's father didn't believe in his son Raymond's dream job. Thompson began writing in 1977 and initially wrote his own plays and later scripts. From 1980 to 1995 he realized various film projects as a film producer, and since 1989 also as a director. In 1978 he met his wife, the screenwriter Siba Hayek, whom he married in 1979. In 1988 their daughter Zeta Kleo Thompson was born, in 1992 daughter Grace Alicia Thompson was born. In 2007 his daughter Zeta married her boyfriend at the age of 17, she is a director like her father.

Film and series

In 1994, Raymond bought a building in Wellington and turned it into New Zealand's most famous film and television studio. "Cloud9", where he has so far produced more than 9,000 projects such as films and series. The TV series The Tribe is one of his best known works, which was produced from 1999 to 2004. In 1995 he produced the series Riding High , in 2001 he created the series Revelations in which some actors from The Tribe played.

In 2004 he made Hidden Surfs , a film about two surfers. Most recently, he shot the series Hospital, a Mistery Clinic series , which ran from 2005 to 2007, starring Dwayne Cameron, Antonia Prebble, Michael Weslye-Smith and Beth Allen. In 2007 he shot a thriller called Time to kill .
