Reşat Karakuyu (* 1928 in Izmir , Turkey ) is a Turkish author and globetrotter who first published in Germany.

Karakuyu started writing late. Before that, in his childhood and youth in his Turkish homeland, he had worked in various handicraft businesses as a temporary worker (including making sweets) and at the State Theater in Izmir. He remained connected to the theater even after graduating from high school, and later traveled with traveling theaters. After completing his military service, the young Turk first became a stewart, and finally a deputy cabin officer on the passenger ships of the Turkish state shipping company. As an officer on cargo ships, he was responsible for catering to the crews. Karakuyu had to give up studying English in London , which he began in 1954, due to financial difficulties. Instead, he began to work in an English confectionery factory, which he became a partner after he had brought the company larger sales through the introduction of Turkish Delight . When the company was destroyed by fire, Karakuyu worked in the confectionery industry for a while, only to work as a guest worker in Germany for the steel industry. In the meantime, he continued his education in poultry farming, which eventually gave him work in Israel , Australia and other countries for a while. After his return to Germany in 1973, he worked as a social worker for the city of Neuss until 1983 , where he looked after Turkish migrant workers. In 1977 Karakuyu began writing and working in the fields of novels, drama and short stories. When he first published the German-language Die Menschen aus der Kahramangasse (1984) by the Berlin publisher EXpress-Edition , the globetrotter was in his mid-50s. Further publications followed in Turkey.
