Reaching Out is a song by the dubstep trio Nero . It was first released on iTunes on December 16, 2011 , and is featured on Nero's album Welcome Reality . The track uses samples from Hall & Oates ' Out of Touch from 1984 and Kano's Another Life from 1983. Dan Stephens of Nero told MTV News that he was Daryl Hall of Hall & Oates, who was the part of the sample from Out of Touch sang, knew and they communicated by email and agreed that he could sing that part again.

Music video

The official music video for the song was first released on YouTube on November 25, 2011 . It's very much based on the 1980s, so it's shot in the style of a Miami Vice intro. However, reference is made to other series from the 1970s and 1980s such as Kojak - Use in Manhattan . The video was directed by Johanna Andersson.

Charts

Reaching Out could only reach the UK dance charts. On December 17, 2011, they entered 24th place, rose by seven places to 17th place in the next week, and on December 31, 2011 they were able to achieve the highest position, ninth place. in the next week, on January 7th, 2012, however, they fell again to 17th place, one week later they fell to 19th place, the following week they rose again to 17th place.

criticism

Katy Olly from Electric Banana said that the only thing to criticize about the song was the drop , which was a bit moderate after the strong build-up. He awarded four stars out of five. Simone Ubaldi of Beat Magazine says that with Reaching Out , Nero produced a commercial dance track suitable for Ibiza.
