Reactive extrusion

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The reactive extrusion is from the plastics processing and is a special process of extrusion . While the focus of extrusion is essentially on shaping (e.g. the manufacture of pipes, semi-finished products, etc.), in reactive extrusion various components are first covalently connected to one another via chemical reaction (s). Twin- screw extruders are mostly used for this , as they are best suited for this process in terms of their dispersion behavior. The reactive extrusion is roughly divided into the following areas:

  • reactive glare , d. H. the coupling of different types of polymers with the aid of a coupler which reacts with both types and the
  • In situ polymerisation , e.g. B. the production of polyamide 6 by ring-opening polymerization of caprolactam .
