Benno Budar

Benno Budar ( Sorbian Beno Budar ; born March 19, 1946 in Wittichenau ) is a Sorbian writer, translator and editor.

Life

Benno Budar was born on March 19, 1946 in Wittichenau (Sorb. Kulow ). He attended Sorbian school facilities in Wittichenau, Doberschütz , Ralbitz and Cunnewitz and from 1960 the extended Sorbian high school in Bautzen , where he also graduated from high school in 1964. After finishing school, he began studying Slavic Studies in Leipzig , which he successfully completed in 1969 as a graduate Slavicist . Since 1969 he has been a fiction editor at Domowina-Verlag in Bautzen. In 1989/90, Budar was involved in the opposition Sorbian People's Assembly .

From the 1990s he was the editor of the Upper Sorbian children's magazine Płomjo and since 1994 he has been the editor-in-chief of the Lower Sorbian edition ( Płomje ). Since 1998 he has been the director of the Rosenthal Literature Circle and since 2004 he has been responsible for Płomjo.

Budar lives in Dreihäuser ( Horni Hajnk ) in the Räckelwitz community .
