Real (Amarante)

Real is a place and a former municipality in northwestern Portugal .
Real belongs to the Amarante district in the Porto district . The municipality had an area of 6.4 km² and has 3138 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
Together with the former municipalities of Ataíde and Oliveira , Real forms the small town of Vila Meã, which was elevated to Vila in December 1987 .
On September 29, 2013, the parishes of Real, Ataíde and Oliveira were merged to form the new parish União das Freguesias de Real, Ataíde e Oliveira . Real is the seat of this newly formed community.
