history

The beginnings

In 1903, the Avilés Sport Club was founded as the city's first football club, before it was renamed Círculo Industrial y de Sport de Avilés in 1906 after merging with Sociedad Obrera Industrial . Under this name the club played in the Segunda División . After the Spanish Civil War , the club had to change its name again, as the Franco government did not allow any foreign elements in the club name. Thus the time of Real Avilés CF began.

Another merger

In some seasons in the 1950s Avilés returned to the Segunda División . At that time the Club Deportivo Llaranes was founded, with which the Real Avilés CF merged in 1983. Once again the club was given a new name - Real Avilés Industrial . The greatest success after the merger was participation in the Segunda División in seasons 90/91 and 91/92.

Stadion

Avilés plays in the Estadio Román Suárez Puerta , which has a capacity of 5,200 spectators.
