Recôncavo
The Recôncavo baiano (recôncavo: dt. Radius, border, bay) is the region around the All Saints Bay in the Brazilian state of Bahia , on which the capital of Bahia, Salvador da Bahia is located.
Well-known places in the Recôncavo are Muritiba , Conceição do Jacuípe , Terra Nova (Bahia) and Santo Amaro (Bahia) .
Well-known personalities from this area are the musician siblings Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia , the lawyer Augusto Teixeira de Freitas and his great-grandson, the statistician Mário Augusto Teixeira de Freitas .
The region is still largely covered by tropical coastal rainforest ( Mata Atlântica ).
