The Red Barons Cologne were an American football club in Cologne from 1981 until they were dissolved in 1991 .

The Red Barons were founded on April 16, 1981, a year before the two years older local rival Cologne Crocodiles made it to the final of the German championship for the first time.

However, it was the Red Barons who were the first and, until 2000, when the Crocodiles won the Bowl, the only Cologne team to win the German Bowl . In the German Bowl X on October 15, 1988, the Red Barons Cologne defeated the Düsseldorf Panthers in the Berlin Olympic Stadium with 25:20 in front of 11,000 spectators.

In the following year, the Barons were again in the final after they had won the northern group of the Bundesliga. German Bowl XI was lost in Nuremberg in front of 10,500 spectators against the Berlin Adler with 30:23.

The Red Barons Cologne dissolved in 1991. Some players strengthened the Cologne Bears , founded in 1987, from 1992 , which in turn were dissolved in 1994, whereupon the Cologne Falcons came into being. These then went into 2011 in the AFC Cologne Falcons .
