Due to financial difficulties, the club's game operations were temporarily suspended after the 2003 season . The board of directors at that time was forced to initiate insolvency proceedings, during which the association had to be restructured. The youth department of the Cologne Crocodiles, up until then two-time junior bowl winners in 1983 and 1993 and North Rhine-Westphalia champions in 1993 and 1997, joined the neighboring SV Lövenich-Widdersdorf 1986/1927 e. The team was able to finish the round of points undefeated as first place and then competed against the Sauerland Mustangs in the placement games for the state league title. In 2010 the Cologne Crocodiles ended the season in the association league with the championship title and in 2011 they entered the league. The first year in the league was not very successful. After Udo Rath gave up the post of head coach for personal reasons, the former players Thomas Achtermann and Christian Rasquin took over the team as coach. After a season with nine wins and one loss, the Cologne Crocodiles won the Oberliga NRW 2012 and were promoted to the Regionalliga West. The successful reconstruction could be continued in the Regionalliga West under Cevin Conrad in the 2013 season. The third division season started with six wins and a points ratio of 208:14. After moving to the post of head coach for club star David Odenthal before the summer break, the following two games had to be lost. The season ended with two wins and 105: 3 points. This secured the renewed championship and direct promotion to the second division, the GFL2 North. In the 2016 season, the Crocodiles won GFL2 Nord and defeated the Düsseldorf Panthers 34-0 and 28-0 in both relegation games and were promoted to GFL Nord.
