The Ravensburg Razorbacks are a German American football team from Ravensburg . The department of TSB Ravensburg , founded in 1987, currently plays in the GFL Süd. In 2014, the department management was expanded after a restructuring. In the course of this, the Ravensburg Razorbacks voluntarily dropped out of the GFL2. The Razorbacks have been playing their home games in the Lindenhof Stadium in Weingarten since 2015. Since then, between 1500 and 2500 spectators have attended the home games.
history
Originally the club was founded in 1986 as Lindenberg Razorbacks, in October 1987 the location moved to Ravensburg and the incorporation as an independent department of TSB Ravensburg . In 1988, the Razorbacks first took part in the Baden-Württemberg Aufbauliga. After a few successful seasons in the 90s, the team was rebuilt after a weak season in 1996 and relegation from the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg. After two unsuccessful years, the sporting upheaval began in 1999, when many players from the Konstanz 89'ers team , who withdrew from play due to a lack of players after the 1998 season, switched to the Razorbacks. In the following year, the Razorbacks were able to finish the season as runner-up in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg. After sporting successful years between 2000 and 2004, after two weak seasons in 2005 and 2006, the Ravensburg Razorbacks were again relegated to the Baden-Württemberg Association League. In the offseason 2006, a team for a syndicate could be found with the Zollernalb Patriots from Albstadt, 85 kilometers away. The Zollernalb Patriots played in the Baden-Württemberg state league until 2006 and, like the Ravensburger Footballer, were struggling with personnel problems at the time. In order to be able to compete in the association league, it was decided to play together under the name Ravensburg Razorbacks. The merger of the two teams achieved a sensational success in 2007, when the Ravensburg Razorbacks managed to get promoted back to the top division of Baden-Württemberg with a perfect season . Also in 2008 the Ravensburg Razorbacks were able to establish themselves in a good season in the major league and reached third place. In the 2009 season, the Razorbacks succeeded on the penultimate day of the season of promotion to the Middle Regional League. After two seasons, which were completed in the middle of the Regionalliga Mitte, the Razorbacks were able to win the Regionalliga Mitte with only one defeat in ten games and move up to the GFL2 in 2012. For this achievement, the team was voted “Team of the Year” by the City of Ravensburg. In the 2013 season the Ravensburg Razorbacks reached 4th place in the GFL2 South. In the 2016 season, the Razorbacks took 4th place in GFL2 South, 2nd place in 2017 and 1st place in both 2018 and 2019 seasons. After both the relegation games against the Stuttgart Scorpions were lost in 2018, the relegation games against the Kirchdorf Wildcats were won in 2019 and the Razorbacks were able to qualify for the GFL.
Flag youth
Since 2010, the Ravensburg Razorbacks have provided a flag football youth team for 10-14 year olds, which has been playing in the youth flag football B league of Baden-Württemberg since 2011. The syndicate with the Biberach Beavers had a successful season in their first year. The 2012 season ended with only one defeat in second place. The flag area has been expanded in recent years. There is currently an U13 and U15 team, and a U17 and U19 team in the tackle area.
cheerleader
At the end of 2011 a cheerleading group was founded with the “Blue Stars” . They have been supporting the Razorbacks in their home games since the 2012 season with over 20 cheerleaders.
