The team was founded on October 8, 2007.

In the first season of 2008, the Dukes played in the Bayern Aufbauliga. In the first year he was promoted to the regional league. Here, too, the Ingolstadt team dominated the league and played a “perfect season” (a season without its own defeat), which in 2009 led to the march through to the association league. There they reached the play-offs straight away and prevailed against the Bamberg Bears in the semi-finals . At the end of 2011, the American football department at MBB-SG Manching switched to TV 1861 Ingolstadt. Happy bear

The club has had its own mascot called Happy since 2013 . This is a bear. The development goes back to a cooperation with the non-profit association Happy Bears e. V. back. This Ingolstadt club has had the Happy Bear as its mascot since it was founded in 2012. Since the two clubs worked together, the Happy Bear has also been the Dukes' mascot.
