Northwest German Football League
The Northwest German Football League ( NFL ) was in 1980 and 1981 a competition league to the 1st Bundesliga of the American Football Association Germany (AFBD). After association quarrels within the AFBD, some American football clubs, including the Düsseldorf Panther , Cologne Crocodiles and Bremerhaven Seahawks , founded the American Football Association (AFV) and organized the Northwest German Football League . In 1982 the associations reunited to form the “ American Football Association Germany ”. The NFL finals were not recognized as official championships by the new association.

- Nine teams took part in the league. The Cologne Crocodiles, Bremerhaven Seahawks and the Solingen Steelers returned to the AFBD in 1981.
- The Düsseldorf Panthers won the final 34:18 against the Mannheim Redskins .
