history
The team was founded in July 1980. It was an amalgamation of previously non-playable teams, Harbourtown Buffaloes and Hamburg pirates. As a result of a mix-up, the used car dealer Dieter Ziemann, who was invited to the American consulate in Hamburg and who was with the former HSV manager Dr. Peter Krohn was mistaken, asked by the football-loving Americans to make football acceptable in Hamburg, the first sponsor.
After the foundation, the Hamburg Vikings started in 1980 in the Northwest German Football League . However, after 8 games in the following season, the team was excluded from league operations due to a ban by the association. A few weeks later, the Hamburg Dolphins club was founded and gaming operations resumed under a new name.
