The Hamburg Dolphins were an American football club in Hamburg . The association was founded in 1981 and existed until 1991 . The regular league game operations of the AFVD took part from 1982 to 1990.

history

After being founded by former Hamburg Vikings players , the Hamburg Dolphins started in the 2nd Bundesliga in 1982 . After just one year, he was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga . In 1985 the Dolphins were relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga, but they were promoted directly back to the top German league. In 1988 the team had to give up the game for organizational reasons. The second team of the club became the Hamburg Silver Eagles . In 1989 they tried a new beginning in the third-class Verbandsliga Nord as a team from Eimsbütteler TV . In 1991 they merged with Harburg Rubberducks to form the Hamburg Hornets , which in 1992 became the Hamburg Blue Devils .
