history

The Rede Expressos came into being in 1995 after the state bus operator Rodoviária Nacional was privatized . The company is a joint venture between the private bus operators Rodoviária da Beira Litoral , Rodoviária do Tejo , Rodoviária do Alentejo , Eva Transportes , Barraqueiro Transportes , Rodoviária da Beira Interior and Rodoviária de Entre Douro e Minho , which emerged from the privatization.

Significance and key figures

Rede Expressos operates a bus network of more than 42,000 kilometers within Portugal with 200 buses; all major cities are served. In 2008 over 4 million passengers drove with the company. Due to the frequent service and the relatively low prices, Rede Expressos is a strong competitor to the Portuguese state railway Comboios de Portugal . Rede Expressos is the successor to the intercity traffic of the Rodoviária Nacional.
