Reg (Sahara)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Reg , ragg, pl. Rgūga; is the name of a surface type in deserts , especially gravel or rubble deserts of the Sahara . In Arabic , Reg means "small stone pavement "; other names are "Dascht" (Persian), "gibber plains" (in the Australian deserts) or " Gobi " in East Asia.

The Reg desert pavement, in contrast to rubble ( Hammada ), gravel ( Serir ) or sandy ( Erg ) deserts , has a mixture of particles of all possible grain sizes . Individual, round island mountains protruding from the plain are typical of Reg deserts .
