Regal Community Theater

The Regal Community Theater is a cinema and events building in the Scottish city ​​of Bathgate in the Council Area West Lothian . In 1999 the building was included in the Scottish monument lists, initially in monument category C. The upgrade to category B took place in 2008. The main reason for this was the plaster work by John Alexander . The Leven- based architect Andrew David Haxton was responsible for the 1938 building . In 1995 the cinema building was redesigned and is now mainly used as the community's event building.

The three-story building is on Bridge Street in central Bathgate. The Art Deco building is built across a flat slope. The south-facing front is five axes wide. It is designed with stucco work , colossal pilasters and stylized keystones. The outer two-story elements emerge slightly. In contrasting colors, the REGAL lettering is emblazoned below the dazzling gable. The building closes with a flat roof .

The floor of the foyer is designed with terrazzo tiles ; the ceiling with decorative plastering work. The original stained glass windows are still partially preserved. The original usage scheme can still be seen in the interior. Flanking staircases lead from the foyer to the gallery and the bar set up on the upper floor. The walls are clad with walnut veneer in the lower area. In the meantime, small exhibition rooms have been set up on both the ground floor and the upper floor. The gallery on the upper floor has been converted into an office space.
