The regular script ( Chinese  楷書  /  楷书 , Pinyin Kǎishū , Jyutping kaai 2 syu 1 , Jap. 楷書 , Kaisho ) is one of the five main categories of Chinese calligraphy . The Kaishu was developed by Zhong Yao based on the normal script of the Han Dynasty . Today they are called "standard cursive" (正楷, zhengkai). But best known is the rule script of the famous calligrapher Wang Xizhi from the Jin dynasty . Cursive script had its heyday in the Tang Dynasty . Famous calligraphers founded their own schools of calligraphy, which made a long-lasting impact on the history of Chinese calligraphy.
