The Högsta förvaltningsdomstolen ( Supreme Administrative Court ), before 2011 Regeringsrätten ( Government Court), is the highest court of general administrative jurisdiction in Sweden under the constitution .

The seat of the court is Birger Jarls Torg 13 at Riddarholmen in Stockholm .

The judges, known as the Justizrat (justitieråd), are selected by the government. The president of the court (ordförande) is appointed by the government. The court decides on appeals against decisions of the middle administrative courts (singular: kammarratst ).

The Chancellor of Justice and the ombudsman of the Reichstag can also appeal to the court. The court was founded in 1909 under the name Kungliga Majestäts regeringsrätt and kept its name until the constitution of 1974. Mats Melin has been the court president since January 3, 2011 .

On December 8, 2009, the government introduced a bill to the Reichstag (prop. 2009/10: 80), in which it was proposed that the Regeringsrätten court should be called Högsta förvaltningsdomstolen from January 1, 2011 .
