Perche Regional Natural Park
The Perche Regional Nature Park ( French Parc naturel régional du Perche ) is located in the French departments of Orne ( Normandy region ) and Eure-et-Loir ( Center-Val de Loire region ).
The nature park, founded in 1998, covers an area of 182,000 hectares. 118 communities with around 77,000 inhabitants make up the park. The park administration is located in the Manoir de Courboyer in the village of Nocé , a district of the new municipality of Perche en Nocé ( 48 ° 23 ′ 49 ″ N , 0 ° 40 ′ 15 ″ E ).
The park is located in the wooded landscape of Le Perche , which gained importance as a separate county in French history . It is known to nature lovers above all for its pastures surrounded by hedges ( bocages ) , on which a special breed of horse of the area, the Percheron , was bred in large numbers in the past . The landscape has remained very close to nature; the diversely structured forest and pasture areas as well as various wetlands form the basis of life for a multitude of rare animal and plant species .
