The Regius Professor in Life Sciences is a Regius Professorship in Life Sciences at the University of Dundee , donated in 2013 by Elizabeth II on the occasion of her diamond jubilee .

History of the professorship

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the throne of Elizabeth II in 2013, six Regius professorships were originally to be donated, i.e. one for each decade. The results of the panel of experts, headed by the former (until 2010) Vice Chancellor of the University of London , Graeme Davies , identified so many chairs worthy of funding that ultimately twelve chairs were named, including one for the College of Life Sciences (CLS) at the University of Dundee.

The former professor of molecular parasitology and dean of the CLS, Michael Anthony John Ferguson , became the first professor .
