Regius Professor of Materia Medica (Glasgow)

The chair of the Regius Professor of Materia Medica was established as a professorship in 1766.

In 1831 Wilhelm IV declared the professorship to be a Regius Professorship . When the then Regius Professor of Practice of Medicine, Abraham Goldberg, retired in 1989, the professorship was merged with it and renamed the Regius Professor of Medicine and Therapeutics . Goldberg's successor in the chair was the previous professor of Materia Medica, John Low Reid .

In addition to this chair, there was also the Regius Professor of Materia Medica and Therapeutics at the University of Aberdeen from 1860 .
