Reiårsfossen

Reiårsfossen is the name of a waterfall in Norway . It is located at Riksvei 9 south of Ose in Setesdal ( Agder ). The waterfall has a height of over 200 m. It is a tourist attraction and several festivals (e.g. the Ose Country Festival ) take place at the nearby campsite every year . A toll road leads to the top of the waterfall.

Legend

The Reiårsfossen is named after Reiår (Reidar), who fell in love with a farmer's daughter from Ose. To get it, her father demanded that Reiår ride over the top of the waterfall three times. Reiår did, but legend has it that he wanted to ride over the waterfall one more time in honor of his future descendants. He and his horse fell and both lost their lives.
