The Reineke Island ( Russian Остров Рейнеке ) is a Russian island in the west of the Sea of Okhotsk . The island is about 6 km² and uninhabited. It lies around 4.6 kilometers from the Siberian mainland.
The island was discovered in 1847. It was named after Michael Franzewitsch Reineke (1801-1859), a Baltic German Vice Admiral in the Imperial Russian Navy and a hydrograph in Russian service. An island of the same name in the Sea of Japan was named after him.
