Reinhard Hauptmann (born July 30, 1947 in Dehlitz ) was a football player in the GDR upper league . He played there for the company sports club (BSG) Stahl Riesa .

Soccer career

Hauptmann started playing football at his home country BSG Chemie Leuna-Dehlitz when he was nine. As a junior he played for Chemie Leipzig and then completed his army service. Until 1971 he was a player at Motor Eberswalde , most recently in the third-class district league Frankfurt / Oder . After finishing school, he completed an apprenticeship as a welder.

At the beginning of the 1971/72 season, Hauptmann moved to the upper division Stahl Riesa. On the second game day of the season, September 1, 1971, he gave his first league debut in the game Vorwärts Frankfurt - Stahl Riesa (2: 1) and immediately scored his first league goal with the equalizer. With a total of 23 out of 26 games played, the 1.88 m tall captain became a regular player in his first season in Riesa and remained so for over 14 years until the end of his career as a football player. At first he was used in the steel team in midfield, from 1973 he was libero until the end of his career . Professionally, he was covered as a sports instructor at the Riesa pipe combine. During his time in Riesa, Hauptmann had to relegate from the league three times: 1972, 1977 and 1981. In 1973 and 1978, Hauptmann and the Riesa team managed to get back up immediately, only after relegation in 1981 did it take two years to return to the league. During his time in Riesa, Hauptmann completed nine league seasons, plus four years in the second-rate GDR league . In the major league, he brought it to 201 games, in which he brought it as a defensive player to 22 goals. Only Wolfram Meinert made more league games in 1968 and 1970 with 214 appearances. In terms of the number of competitive games (championship and cup), Hauptmann is Riesa record holder with 310 appearances.

Hauptmann played his last season at Stahl Riesa in 1983/84. He was called up ten times as a sweeper, alternating with Frank Dünger. His last league game took place on March 17, 1984 with the encounter between Rot-Weiß Erfurt and Stahl Riesa (3-1). Even after the end of his career as a football player, Hauptmann, who had settled in Riesa-Weida, continued to play football. In 2009 he coached the SV Mügeln-Ablass II regional league team.
