Reinhard Menger

Reinhard Menger (born October 3, 1920 in Berlin ; † February 23, 2005 ) was a German engineer . He was director of the Association of German Engineers (VDI) for sixteen years .

Life

Reinhard Menger began his engineering studies in Gdansk, where he studied marine engineering, and finished it in Braunschweig, where he received his doctorate in engineering at the Institute for Vehicle Technology . He then began his professional career at Lloyd Motoren Werke GmbH. From 1970 to 1985 he was director of the Association of German Engineers (VDI), of which he had been a member since 1950. He succeeded Karl Beck, who was director from 1967 to 1969.

  • 1985: Great Cross of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany
  • 1987: Honorary membership of the VDI
