Reinsehlen is a small town in the Heidekreis district in Lower Saxony . The place is part of the town of Schneverdingen and is part of the Insel district.

Reinsehlen is about 5 km north of the city center and is connected to it via the L171.

history

In Reinsehlen, a Wehrmacht airfield was built in 1938, which was used after the end of the war as a refugee camp and later by troops of the British Rhine Army under the name Camp Reinsehlen as a base camp for tank exercises in the Lüneburg Heath . The camp is now a nature reserve. In 1998 the Dalai Lama visited the large open space. Today the Alfred Toepfer Academy for Nature Conservation and a modern hotel complex are located in the area .

In Reinsehlen there is a high ropes course and a glider airfield .
