Locations

Meeting place in the former British military camp Camp Reinsehlen

The headquarters of the Alfred Toepfer Academy for Nature Conservation (NNA) has been located on Hof Möhr, an old Heidehof near Schneverdingen , since 1982 . The Naturschutzpark Verein had bought the farm with funds from the Alfred Toepfer Foundation FVS for the establishment of a nature conservation academy. The academy's conference center has been located near Schneverdingen on the grounds of Camp Reinsehlen since 1999 . It is based in a former military administration building of the British Army on the Rhine . In addition, the NNA has a branch in Hildesheim , where the FÖJ department is based. The NNA maintains scientific collaborations with the University of Lüneburg and with the Lower Saxony Study Institute (NSI) in Hanover.

tasks

The state mandate of the NNA covers different areas. As an institution of national importance, it is bound by the instructions of the Lower Saxony Ministry for the Environment, Energy and Climate Protection .

Educational work

The NNA offers an extensive seminar program for administrative staff, decision-makers and multipliers. As a regional environmental education center, the NNA in Schneverdingen offers an educational program especially for children and young people.

research

Networking the various research disciplines is another task of the NNA . The NNA claims that the humanities, economics, social and natural sciences should work together in the interests of nature conservation. To this end, the NNA stimulates research projects, supports them, evaluates the results and makes them available to third parties. The NNA's own research projects are carried out in collaboration with universities and technical colleges in the Lüneburg Heath nature reserve .

public relation

Practical public relations work is offered during guided tours, exhibitions and nature conservation information at Hof Möhr. The press releases of the NNA regularly provide journalists and editors with nature conservation-specific news. The NNA publishes the scientific publication series "NNA Reports" and communications from the NNA , which provide information on current developments in nature conservation in Lower Saxony.
