Reischacherhof

The Reischacherhof is a former canon house on Münsterplatz in Basel , next to the grammar school on Münsterplatz .

After the Reformation , the von Reischach family moved there . From 1764 to 1768 the house was rebuilt under the direction of the architect Johann Jacob Fechter . The town clerk Isaak Iselin lived there from 1765 . On March 30, 1777, he founded the Society for the Good and the Charitable Basel , from which the GGG City Library Basel emerged in 1807 . The GGG received the house as a gift from the canton of Basel-Stadt for its 200th anniversary .

The Café Zum Isaak is located in the Reischacher Hof.
