Rem (radio broadcast)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rem - the computer magazine (also written REM ) was a school radio broadcast of the GDR radio on the subject of computers. The name refers to the REM keyword, which is used to introduce comments in the BASIC programming language .

history

In the summer of 1986 , Radio DDR II began broadcasting a teaching program on computer technology as part of the school radio. On October 16, 1986, a computer program was broadcast on the radio for the first time as part of the program “Effective Programming in BASIC” . The transmission took place analogously to the recording process on cassette tapes using audible tones that the radio listener could record on tape at home.

At first there were difficulties because the radio transmission was not working reliably. In later broadcasts, the transmission worked better after it was switched from mono to stereo , with one channel being full and the other channel being controlled at -30 dB .
