René Mandel (born September 26, 1991 in Aschaffenburg , Bavaria ) is a German racing driver. When he first participated in the 2014 European Autocross Championship , he won his first international title, FIA European Autocross Champion 2014 Buggy 1600, at the age of 22 .

Career

At the age of just under four, Mandel drove at the Vogelsbergring kart track in Wittgenborn in a 60 cm³ Bambini kart, later in a 100 cm³ racing kart. He was supported by his grandfather Hans Mandel (three times German autocross champion) and his father Martin Mandel (four times German autocross champion). René Mandel acquired the technical expertise as a racing mechanic for his grandfather, the hill climber Herbert Stenger, in the areas of hill climb, circuit and rallycross.

In 2007 he drove the complete German Junior Championship for the first time and won the title DMSj Junior Autocross Champion in a cross kart. In 2013 he started in selected races at the European Autocross Championship. In 2014 he became FIA ​​European Autocross Champion Buggy 1600.
