René Maquoi

René JH Maquoi (* 1942 ) is a Belgian civil engineer ( steel construction , composite steel construction ).

Maquoi studied civil engineering at the University of Liège with a degree in 1965. He received his doctorate there in 1973 and has taught there since 1979. Maquoi is a student of Charles Massonnet . He also taught in Japan, Switzerland, Vietnam and Paris at the École nationale des ponts et chaussées. He was involved in various Eurocodes, especially for steel construction (Eurocode 3).

He published especially about stability problems and fasteners.

He is an honorary doctorate from the Technical University of Lisbon. In 1998 he was the first to receive the Charles Massonnet Prize and the Trasenster Medal.
