Renate Harant

Renate Harant (born January 19, 1948 in Landsberg am Lech ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives from 2001 to 2016 .

education and profession

Harant graduated from high school in 1967, studied German and geography at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich from 1967 to 1970 and completed her teaching post in 1972. From 1972 to 1992 she worked as a secondary school teacher and is currently on leave due to her political mandate.

politics

Renate Harant joined the SPD in 1987. From 1995 to 2001 she was a district councilor in Treptow-Köpenick. From November 2001 to October 2016 she was a member of the House of Representatives. In the 2006 parliamentary elections she was directly elected with 35.3% of the votes for the constituency Treptow-Köpenick 6 , which she defended in the 2011 parliamentary election with 31.0%. Renate Harant was chairman of the committees for "Education, Youth and Sport" and a member of the committee for "Cultural Affairs". She has been a member of the SPD parliamentary group since 2006.
