Renate Seitner

Renate Seitner (born February 3, 1962 in Krems an der Donau ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and high school teacher. From 2007 to 2008 she was a member of the Austrian Federal Council and city councilor for the municipality of Mautern an der Donau .

education and profession

Seitner attended the elementary school in Mautern an der Donau from 1968 to 1972 and then from 1972 to 1977 the general education college in Krems an der Donau . She then attended the training institute for work teachers between 1977 and 1981 and finally completed her apprenticeship in women's clothing in 1984. She also passed the master's examination for women’s dressmakers in 1987. From 1981 to 1983, Seitner worked as a specialist teacher at the federal college for kindergarten teachers in Amstetten, after which she was educator at Bundeskonvikt III from 1983 to 1986. in Krems on the Danube. In 1984 she became a teacher for textile and technical works at the Bundesrealgymnasium Ringstrasse in Krems an der Donau.

Politics and functions

Seitner was involved in local politics and was elected a member of the municipal council of Mautern an der Donau in 1995. In 2007, she took over the function of city councilor in Mautern and held this office until 2012. Within the party, she was district women chairwoman of the SPÖ Krems an der Donau from 1996, and held this position until 2009. From 2001 she was also the district chairman of the Social Democratic Union (FSG) group in Krems an der Donau. In addition, from 2007 she was chairwoman of the SPÖ Mautern and deputy SPÖ district party chairman. From January 25, 2007 to April 9, 2008, she was a member of the Federal Council and from 2007 to 2008 she was the secretary of the Committee on Family and Youth. She was also a member of the Committee on Women's Affairs, the Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, the Committee on Social Security, Generations and Consumer Protection, the Committee on Constitution and Federalism, the Health Committee and the Committee on Family and Youth.
